The Bal des Petits Lits Blancs, held every year at the Opéra Garnier for the benefit of children with tuberculosis, was organized by Léon Bailby, president of the Paris Press Union and head of the newspapers L’Intransigeant and Match de l’Intran, and later founder, in 1933, of the newspaper Le Jour.
