A landmark artist’s book devoted to the theme of the corrida, Toreros represents one of Pablo Picasso’s most sustained and personal visual subjects. Produced in close collaboration with Jaime Sabartés, the artist’s lifelong friend and biographer, this volume is considered a key work within Picasso’s graphic and book arts legacy.
Issued as the first American edition in 1961, the book includes four original lithographs by Picasso, printed by the renowned Mourlot Frères atelier in Paris. One plate is printed in twenty-four colors. The volume is illustrated throughout with 103 reproductions of Picasso’s wash drawings. The lithographs are recorded in Bloch 1014–1017 and Cramer 113. The present copy is accompanied by a letter of description and authenticity from Bauman Rare Books.
