Entitled ‘Bald Eagle’, the work belongs to the famous ‘Endangered Species’ series, which arose following a conversation between Andy Warhol and the well-known gallery owners and environmental activists Ronald and Frayda Feldman, concerning global environmental issues and the recent US legislation protecting endangered species, the Endangered Species Act of 1973.
Andy Warhol thus used his unmistakable Pop art style to give maximum visibility to rare animals threatened by human activity, giving rise to the “Animals in Make-up” project.
