With this series Luuk de Haan examines the deformation and alteration created by the camera as it translates two-dimensional shapes into a three-dimensional image.
A single shot is taken from a slideshow consisting of 2 or more images which were in advance designed for this project. The camera has been moved and/or the zooming function of the lens is used in order to create the three-dimensional image.
Luuk de Haan was inspired by a spinning machine when creating this series.
Printed atop the mechanical spinner was the warning “Nicht in die Laufende Trommel Greifen,” which in German means “Do Not Fall in the Running Drum.”
The photographs combine mechanical processes with human aesthetic choices in an exploration of motion, geometry and dynamic color relationships.
