Hand signed (numbered and monogrammed by the artist)
Original wood engraving
"LIGNES MALIGNES is a suite of 15 color woodcuts, including title and colophon, with the following transcription:
The printing of this suite of thirteen wood engravings was limited to 75 copies.
The edition was printed on Arches vellum (size: 560 × 450 mm).
Each plate is monogrammed and numbered, as is the engraved colophon (pl. 15).
There exist trial proofs, inked and printed by hand by the artist, either without any mark, or monogrammed and bearing EA (épreuve d’artiste/artist’s proof) or HC (hors commerce). Color variations (pl. 4, 8, 10, 14) or engraving variations (pl. 6, 7) constitute distinct states, identifiable even within the sequence of the edition proofs themselves: thus, from plate 4, there exist impressions in light yellow-green on red (proofs 5/75: repr.; 14/75) or in pale green on blue (proof 29/75). From plates 2, 5, 8, there exist artist’s proofs (EA) on old grey laid paper."
