Papier jauni

After his Surrealist experiments and the practice of automatism, Masson reintroduced in the 1960s a figuration laden with symbols. Here the sun and moon abandon any naturalistic appearance and are given anthropomorphic faces. Their curving, sinuous lines reveal a calligraphic vocabulary developed through his study of East Asian art.
